Digital Photography and Imaging - Project 4
19/05/25 - 27/ 06/25 ( Week 11- Week14 )
1. Write a biography about yourself
INTRO | My name is Kaiwei, I'm 21 years old, born and raised in Selangor. I'm currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Patisserie Art, and this is my minor project. To be honest, this project has been a huge challenge for me. As someone who’s completely clueless about drawing, it felt like my brain was constantly overloaded. I had never used any professional drawing or design software before, and at the beginning, I couldn’t even figure out how to open layers or add brushes. |
PARAGRAPH 1 | What is your passion? I love finding a quiet corner in a café, accompanied by the music playing in the background. I watch people come and go while waiting for my dessert and coffee to be served. At the same time, I observe the café’s interior design and capture its details with my camera. Once everything is in place, I take out my laptop and dive into my design work with full focus. |
PARAGRAPH 2 | What’s motivate you to achieve your dream? What drives me to pursue my dream is the desire for freedom. I hope to live a life I'm passionate about — one where I can travel freely, explore different cultures, and learn pastry arts around the world. |
SUMMARY | How do you want to visualize your dream into an artwork? I hope to express my dream through a warm, atmospheric scene — a life that blends freedom, creativity, and my passion for both pastry and art. It’s not just an artwork, but a window into the life I’m striving to create. |
2. Write a statement about your work
INTRO | Tell us about your work My work is created based on the theme of “City Inspiration,” reflecting the emotions and memories I have of the city where I’ve lived since childhood. It not only represents the environment I grew up in, but also carries my deep feelings and sense of belonging to this city. |
PARAGRAPH 1 | What is the concept behind it? This design is based on the theme “City Inspiration: Beauty – The Scenery of Hometown.” I chose Kuala Lumpur because it holds many memories for me. I included landmarks like the KL Tower, Petronas Twin Towers, and Merdeka 118, and added a cat as the main character to bring a sense of warmth and familiarity. I used my own photos and combined them with a collage style to show how I see the beauty of my hometown. |
PARAGRAPH 2 | What is the message you want people to understand it? Through this artwork, I want people to feel the emotional connection I have with my hometown. It’s not just about the famous landmarks, but about the memories, feelings, and everyday beauty that make the city special to me. |
SUMMARY | What is your motto/ quote? Do what you love, love what you do. |
