Digital Photography & Imaging- WEEK 11

 LECTURES:

This week, Mr. Fauzi introduced us to After Effects. It is a 2.5D software used for animation and visual effects in videos. We can combine images, videos, and graphics using layers and keyframes. Before using it, we need to organize all the layers in Photoshop or Illustrator, as After Effects links to the files instead of embedding them.

FINAL PROJECT : DIGITAL IMAGING

Task Assigned:

  • Mr. Fauzi informed us that we will begin our final project, which is related to digital imaging. He told us we can use either Photoshop or After Effects to complete it. This project is a continuation of the previous one — the final part of the Honor competition — which focuses on animation.

Progression:
  • Since I had already completed my animation earlier, I still submitted it to Mr. Asrizal for review. He mentioned that my animation was a bit simple and suggested that I could improve it. So, I decided to focus on refining and adding effects to enhance it further

  • Mr. Asrizal suggested that we search for relevant references on Pinterest to help improve our animation. By exploring different styles, compositions, and effects, we can get inspiration and ideas to enhance the overall visual quality and creativity of our work.

Progression:
  • I didn’t completely delete my previous video, as I planned to use it as a base for improvement. I started by opening Photoshop and began working on the animation for the square poster first. For the profile i use back what i did in previous week.
  • I started by animating the speed limit sign, moving it from right to left. This sets it up to move back and forth in the later part of the video.

  • Next, I worked on the city layer, applying a similar left-to-right and right-to-left movement. This added a sense of depth and motion to the background, making the overall animation feel more dynamic and alive.

  • I think the biggest change I made was to the sun. I animated it to rotate in a clockwise direction, which adds a subtle but noticeable motion to the scene, making it feel more lively and engaging.

  • Next, I went on YouTube to look for night-time effect references that matched the style I wanted for my animation.

REFLECTION:
  • Because we had already learned how to use the Photoshop timeline in a previous week, I felt much more confident and comfortable working on it this week. I was already familiar with how to set keyframes, adjust layer positions, and control the timing of animations. This prior experience allowed me to work more efficiently and focus on improving the visual effects rather than figuring out the basic tools
